Resilience, according to the American Psychological Association, is “the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress.” Your organisation is only as strong as its members, so it is important to ensure your teams are as strong and resilient as possible.
The Impact of Adversity on Organisations
The economy can throw some hard punches, not just at individuals but at entire teams and companies as well. When organisations are faced with adversity, this can lead to structural changes, job losses, angry clients, a tougher sales environment, and a feeling of uncertainty and insecurity within the workforce. The consequences of having stressed-out individuals in any team are far-reaching. If not managed correctly, their behaviour will bring about knock-on effects, leading to a toxic working environment and everything that goes with that: reduced productivity, reduced quality of work, internal conflict, absenteeism, under-performance, and staff sickness. Stress causes burnout.
Strengthening Resilience Within Organisations
By strengthening the resilience of your workforce, you are fortifying your organisation. Resilience can be improved through the adoption of good habits and the cultivation of the right attitudes.
Course Structure
iCan Be Resilient is a half-day, interactive workshop that opens with Richard’s keynote, followed by a short break and then two hours of interactive reflection.
Richard McCann's One-Hour Signature Keynote
Richard is one of the UK’s busiest motivational speakers having now shared his story over 3000 times across the globe. He’s also an award winning professional speaker, a Fellow of The Professional Speaking Association and was awarded the Professional Speaking Award for Excellence in 2019. He is also the founder of the iCan Speak Academy and he is the author of 4 books. His first, Just a Boy – was a Times No1 best seller and sold close to half a million copies and has been translated into 11 languages.
Interactive Reflection
Richard invites participants to explore the key events of his story in more detail while reflecting on the strategies that helped him not only to overcome trauma but to thrive. During this two-hour section, he introduces his audience to ten different resilience tools and the solid scientific research they are based on. This is an interactive session, so delegates have every opportunity to try these tools for themselves by applying them to their own experiences.
Resilience Tools
The tools we use are based on innovative research and will empower your staff to manage any situation. They work by helping people to think differently and reframe events in ways that will make them stronger and better able to accept situations. Although iCan Be Resilient shows people how to process change that has already happened, it also provides insight into how we can better prepare for the changes to come.
In-Person or Virtual
The iCan Be Resilient session can be tailored to suit your requirements, timetable, and budget. It can be delivered either virtually or in person and structured to last between 1 and 3.5 hours. Alternatively, once Richard has delivered his keynote to your team, the resilience tools can be sent out to you over 10 weeks, so you can explore a different tool each week. Ask for more details.
